Silicone Polymers

Silicone, which exists in various forms such as oil, rubber, and resin, is an inert synthetic compound. It is commonly found in sealants, adhesives, lubricants, medical applications, cookware, and insulation due to its heat-resistant and rubber-like properties. Silicone is a polymer composed of silicon, carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, and in certain instances, other elements.

Silicone Oils

Silicone Elastomers

Silicone elastomers are formulated by combining reactive, linear molecules with a cross-linking agent and reinforcement materials, resulting in favorable mechanical characteristics such as elasticity, absorption, and tear strength.

Silicone Fluids

Silicone fluids, also known as silicone oils or polydimethylsiloxane, possess varying degrees of polymerization, leading to different viscosities. These silicone oils consist of polymeric chains with a high density of methyl groups, resulting in minimal intermolecular associations. As a result, the chains smoothly and easily slide and glide over one another, giving the oils their fluidic nature.
